Elder Friends/Peer Support of Dane County
As an Elder Friend, you would be matched with an older adult in your community for weekly visits. The Elder Friends Program gives homebound or isolated seniors a chance to connect with a warm listener, and provides volunteers with a meaningful way to give back to their community. In most cases, long-lasting and mutually rewarding relationships develop. Volunteers must complete a volunteer application; be able to perform independently; clear a background check and two reference checks; complete training with the Peer Support Coordinator; and attend an annual workshop. Please contact Anita Brown-Huber, Peer Support Coordinator, at 608-846-9469 or
abrown-huber@thecommunitycornerstone.org if you are interested.
