Background

Redistricting is the process of redrawing the City's wards and aldermanic district boundaries. These boundaries are adjusted based on population changes that have occurred over the last decade. Through the redistricting process, the population within each aldermanic district is equalized so that Fitchburg residents have equal representation on the Common Council.

The Mayor has appointed a group of Fitchburg residents to serve on the Redistricting Committee. This committee consists of an Alderperson, citizen members from each of the aldermanic districts, two representatives at-large, as well as City Staff.
